Step 1
During the candidate filing period, a candidate must sign and submit a Candidate Registration and Qualification (CRQ) form. It is the candidate's responsibility to sign and submit a completed CRQ form to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. The CRQ provides the information necessary for the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk to validate the candidate's qualification status. Upon arrival at Registrar's office, the candidate or authorized Agent will be given instructions and issued the official Nomination Documents. The CRQ provides the information necessary to commence preparation of nomination documents and therefore is not an official candidate nomination document.
To expedite the registration and qualification process, a candidate may provide the necessary information to the Registrar by filling out and transmitting the "Online Candidate Registration and Qualification Form" (CRQ). This on-line process is "shutdown" on the last date of each filing period. A blank CRQ may also be obtained for this purpose at the Registrar's Office. This office will process the transmitted CRQ form within 48 hours (excluding weekends/holidays). All candidates bear full responsibility to execute and file official filing documents prepared and issued by this office no later than the legal deadline established by law. If for any reason the CRQ form is not accepted or does not qualify you for the office chosen, you will be notified by telephone or by return email within 48 hours (excluding weekends/holidays) and provided with the reason for not accepting the form.
Step 2
You must execute and submit your Candidate Registration and Qualification Form in one of three ways:
(Special Note: Online transmission is not accepted after noon on the last day of the filing period.) The CRQ is not an official candidate nomination document but a necessary tool to provide the preparation of the nomination documents.
Step 3
All candidates must complete Steps 1 and 2 no later than the legal filing deadlines established by law. "Candidate Qualification & Nomination Filing Schedule." No exceptions will be made.
