Subpoenas

Any request requiring a signed declaration from the custodian of records must be delivered or mailed to:

All requests must include the full amount of payment. Requests sent with a "witness fee" of $15.00 will delay processing.

Please do not combine payment. Include a separate check for each fee.

Birth - $32.00
Death - $24.00
Marriage - $17.00
Real Estate Records - $6.00 for the first page plus $3.00 for each additional page. You may send a blank check indicating a Not to Exceed $ ________ (amount) noted on the memo field.
Witness fee (Court Appearance) - $275 deposit
FBN - $2.00

Government agencies and members of law enforcement are not exempt from payment.

Government Code 27383 No fee shall be charged by the recorder for services rendered to the State, to any municipality, county in the State or other political subdivision thereof, except for making a copy of a paper or record.

IMPORTANT

Requests for copies of confidential marriage licenses must have a court order attached to the request. If a search reveals the record ·is confidential, you will receive notification requesting a court order be submitted.

Family Code 511 (a) Except as provided in subdivision (b), the county clerk shall maintain confidential marriage certificates filed pursuant to Section 506 as permanent records which shall not be open to public inspection except upon order of the court issued upon a showing of good cause. The confidential marriage license is a confidential record and not open to public inspection without an order from the court.

Turnaround Time

Requests sent to the address listed above and with the appropriate fee attached will be processed and mailed via USPS regular mail.

Request sent to an address other than the address listed above and/or without appropriate fees attached can be delayed weeks.

Random searches are not permitted. Records must be properly identified by providing the following:

Birth - Name and approximate date of birth
Death - Name and approximate date of death
Marriage - Both names and approximate date of marriage
Real Estate Records - The document number or the name(s) listed on the document, the year of recording and the document title
Real Estate Records Search Fee - $0.50 per name/per year
FBN - $2.00
The Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk does not maintain real estate records by address or APN you must provide a name to search.
